The role is full‑time (37 hours per week). Part‑time applicants are considered for a job‑share arrangement that covers the full‑time hours.

The aim is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk (PAR) for whom you are responsible, while complying with General Dental Council standards, Defence policies, Defence Primary Healthcare SOPs and single Service regulations.

Job ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Inspecting personnel for whom you are responsible at intervals according to NICE guidelines and providing follow‑up treatment.
- Providing occupational oral health assessments, maintaining knowledge of NATO Dental Fitness categorisation and contributing to joint medical standards.
- Recording contemporaneous notes on integrated electronic health‑care records for all episodes of care.
- Managing surgical duties, documentation, consumable stores, safe custody of sensitive data, and equipment maintenance to a high standard.
- Referring personnel to specialist practitioners, consultants or enhanced practitioners as appropriate.

The interview may include direct questions and clinical scenario‑based questions. The sift will conclude within 10 working days of the Final date to receive applications.
Person Specification – Behaviour- Have you been dismissed for gross misconduct relating to bullying, harassment, discrimination or victimisation in the last five years? Respond with Yes or No.
- Registration as a Dentist with the General Dental Council (GDC). Provide your membership registration number; applications will not progress without a valid number.
- Maintain evidence of clinical currency by undertaking operative primary dental care – minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week over the last 15 months.
- Foundation Dentist Training completed (or qualified before foundation training became compulsory).
- OR evidence of adequate current clinical experience to practice independently (UK or overseas).
This post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
Other InformationApplicants must meet the security check level required. Hepatitis B serology evidence is required.
Probation: 6‑month period for new Civil Service employees, subject to business needs.
The post does not offer relocation expenses. Non‑standard move applicants may be eligible for the full package subject to eligibility.
This role does not meet the UK points‑based visa sponsorship criteria, so it is not open to applicants requiring visa sponsorship.
Salary: £60,188 to £99,410 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time).
