The Department of Chemistry at the University of Lincoln seeks to appoint a 1.0 FTE Senior Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry on a Teaching and Research role profile. You will join a research active department focused on the research themes of Advanced Functional Materials;
Innovative Analytical Methodologies; and Molecular, Cellular, Chemical and Computational Biology (M3CB). The team works with colleagues across the university, including The Bridge Advanced Materials and Engineering R&D Centre, the wider sector and with industry beyond academia. We would particularly welcome candidates with a background in chromatography and applications of analytical chemistry to forensic science. Working with us will provide a stimulating, interdisciplinary and collegiate environment in the heart of a thriving, safe and friendly city and bustling campus.

We support excellence in research and teaching, and you will be part of a team that provides a portfolio of qualifications at BSc, MChem, MSc and PhD level. The post is offered full time on a Teaching and Research (TR) role profile, on an open-ended basis.

Requirements
  • Has expertise in analytical chemistry with a strong focus on chromatographic techniques including GC, HPLC/UPLC and GC-MS/LC-MS including method development and validation.
  • Has demonstrable experience in applying analytical methods in a forensic context such as toxicology, drugs, trace evidence and fire investigation among others
  • Has a research background and is capable of contributing to the Schools research environment including high quality publications, grant funding and the ability to contribute to ; OR can evidence income generation through professional practice, leading to commercialisation or consultancy activities
  • Has the ability to work collaboratively across analytical chemistry, forensic science, toxicology and related areas
  • Has prior experience of teaching UG and PG student as well as supervision of research students up to PhD level.

All candidates should be excellent communicators who will complement the departments existing teaching, and we particularly encourage candidates who could support teaching across the wider disciplines of Chemistry, Forensic Science and Forensic Biology as a potential new development.
