Equine Groom Apprentice Stud

34-37.5 hrs per week – 7.5hr day, 1 hr lunch, 2 x 15min tea break,

Founded by BHSI-qualified rider and coach Michaela Tomlinson, Lincoln Stud has grown into a trusted base for horse owners and riders across Surrey and the South of England. The yard combines high-standard facilities with a friendly atmosphere where horses and people alike can thrive.

Lincoln Stud provides a variety of livery options and bespoke training packages for horses at all stages, from young horses being produced for competition to those enjoying a quieter routine. Horses benefit from expert, consistent care and a calm environment where their individual needs are prioritised.

Michaela and her small team produce and compete horses on behalf of owners, maintaining clear communication and transparency throughout. Whether schooling, competing, or simply keeping horses fit and happy, the emphasis is always on reliability, quality, and welfare.

We are recruiting for a caring individual who is seeking to start a career working with horses. The individual will be keen to learn and enjoy dealing with a wide range of horses. You will join a fun knowledgeable team who will help you to develop your skills and equip you for a wide range of future roles.

Your day to day activities will include:

• Feeding.
• Loading and unloading horses onto the walker.
• Bandaging and booting.
• Turning out and bringing in.
• Mucking out.
• Cleaning automatic waterers.
• Washing feed bowls.
• Vet care – eg washing and treating wounds.
• Making up haynets.
• Tidying the yard.
• Client service
• Opportunity to go to shows/competitions

Desired skills and Qualities

• Previous experience of working with horses is essential, and a good riding ability (please give us detail in your application of your prior horse experience!)
• The successful candidate will be self motivated, reliable, hard working and open to learning. You will be punctual and reliable and enjoy working as part of a team.

Desired qualifications

• Pony Club exams, GCSE, or equivalent,in maths and English
• Applicants already holding a level 2 in horse care may be considered for a level 3 apprenticeship

Training

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
• The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship or a Level Senior Groom Apprenticeship
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
• Genuine opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis at the end of this Apprenticeship for the right candidate
• Lincoln stud have had multiple past apprentices and offer incredible training under a Level 5 Accredited Coach.
