SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Bicker, Lincolnshire, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a nurturing, therapeutic, and highly supportive environment, with small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios designed to help every child thrive.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide classroom support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Encourage engagement with learning activities and classroom tasks.
  • Support pupils during unstructured times such as breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for all pupils.

Required Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Experience in SEMH schools, Special Educational Needs (SEN), alternative provision settings, care, support work, youth work, residential childcare, behaviour mentoring, or pastoral support.
  • Calm, resilient, and patient personality.
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish professional boundaries.
  • Proactive and able to think on your feet.
  • A positive role model with a genuine desire to make a difference.
