We are a leading manufacturer of Gas Turbines and are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the Blades and Vanes Team. Ideally the suitable candidate will have experience with Coatings and/or machining.
Responsibilities- As a Supplier Quality Engineer for blades and vanes (BV) supporting the SGT business, work within a growing team with significant responsibility.
- Interact with suppliers; lead product qualifications and fixed process changes; address and contain non-conformances; analyse data; drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate internally with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality standards are met; foster strong relationships with suppliers.
- Engage with suppliers to help resolve process-related issues, including non-conformance management and containment.
- Oversee supplier quality performance, initiate quality improvement programs, corrective and preventive actions, and risk mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with a multi-functional team to assess and audit supplier capabilities, ensuring they meet Siemens Energy standards.
- Continuously monitor and report supplier quality performance; contribute to KPIs and communicate risks.
- Technical and Engineering
Experience:
Solid background in Engineering, R&D, or manufacturing (time served or degree qualified), with demonstrable experience of leading product qualifications (PPAP, APQP or similar) and managing unexpected supplier quality issues from start to finish. Knowledge of inspection methodologies and capability. Knowledge of drawing interpretation (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience in gas turbine blade/vane machining and/or surface coating technology is highly desirable. IT skills including Excel/data manipulation. - Quality and
Risk Management:
Proficiency in quality methods (5 Why, FMEA, 8D, RCA) and risk management, focusing on product functionality, delivery/cost, and resource constraints. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and Quality Control routines. - Interpersonal and Communication
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills across all levels of business. Initiative and diplomacy. Experience working within a global environment with good cultural awareness. Ability to manage multi-problem investigations simultaneously. - Commitment and Travel:
Demonstrates commitment, collaboration, positivity and structured work habits, with willingness to travel as part of the job.
