A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Cost Engineer for our Machined Parts commodity, you will play a key role in improving the competitiveness and profitability of components used across our Small, Medium and Aero-derivative Gas Turbine portfolio.

Using Cost and Value Engineering methodologies, you will build transparency around what engineered components should cost and identify the technical and commercial drivers behind those costs. You'll work across Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and our supplier network, analysing manufacturing processes, challenging supplier quotations and identifying opportunities to reduce cost without compromising quality or performance.

Your work will cover engineered components typically no larger than 500mm³, giving you exposure to a broad range of manufacturing technologies including machining, turning, forging, casting, fabrication, coating, welding and additive manufacturing.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead Cost and Value Engineering initiatives for Machined Parts across Small, Medium and Aero-derivative Gas Turbines, embedding cost and value optimisation into core business and product development processes.
  • Build detailed cost transparency through should-cost modelling and analysis, using manufacturing knowledge and tools such as Teamcenter Product Cost Management (TcPCM), aPriori, Machine Learning Price Prediction (MLPP) and Cost Breakdown (CBD).
  • Perform should-cost analysis of components and challenge supplier quotations, providing Procurement with robust cost insight to support negotiations, supplier selection, sourcing decisions and Sourcing Boards.
  • Support target costing and Design-to-Cost activities by combining customer requirements, competitor insights, technical capability and manufacturing considerations to establish achievable cost targets.
  • Identify and deliver cost-out opportunities through cross-functional workshops, design-for-manufacturing activities, innovation initiatives and manufacturing efficiency improvements across the portfolio.
  • Work within the global Cost and Value Engineering network, tracking measures and savings, supporting proposal teams and clearly presenting cost analysis, recommendations and opportunities to stakeholders and senior leadership.
What You Bring
  • A degree in Engineering is preferred, although equivalent practical experience within Cost Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement Engineering or a related technical discipline will also be considered.
  • Strong experience with should-costing, cost modelling or Cost and Value Engineering, with the ability to identify manufacturing cost drivers and translate technical information into credible cost estimates.
  • Knowledge of engineered component manufacturing processes such as machining, turning, forging, casting, fabrication, coating, welding or additive manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong analytical capability and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office applications. Experience with TcPCM, aPriori, NX or similar engineering and cost-modelling tools would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work cross-functionally and engage with external suppliers. Experience supporting supplier negotiations, sourcing activities or project management would be beneficial.
  • Fluency in English and experience collaborating across cultures and international teams, with the flexibility to travel to suppliers and production facilities when required.
