Help Build What's Next

Shaping places. Leading change. Keeping North East Lincolnshire moving.

Highways and Transport is back at North East Lincolnshire Council, creating an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing in-house service.

We're looking for someone who wants to make a real difference in their local community by helping to improve road safety, transport and travel across North East Lincolnshire.

You do not need to be a traffic or road safety expert to apply. We're keen to hear from people with relevant transferable skills who are enthusiastic about making it easier and safer for residents to travel, whether by car, bus, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Technician within our Traffic & Road Safety Team, you'll support projects that help make our roads safer and improve how people move around the borough.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining records, data and technical information.
  • Collecting, analysing and checking information to support projects and decision-making.
  • Assisting with investigations, reports and responses relating to traffic and road safety matters.
  • Undertaking site visits, inspections and surveys.
  • Responding to enquiries from colleagues, councillors and members of the public, explaining technical information in a clear and accessible way.
  • Supporting the design and delivery of traffic management and road safety improvement schemes.

This is a varied and hands-on role where your organisation, problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people will make a genuine difference.

You will be joining a supportive team that works collaboratively to develop practical solutions to everyday transport and road safety challenges.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from people with experience in areas such as:

  • Technical administration or support.
  • Data management and analysis.
  • Inspections, surveys or compliance activities.
  • Engineering, highways, transport, planning or related disciplines.
  • Customer-focused roles involving problem-solving and communication.

You may have gained your knowledge through previous employment, vocational training or relevant qualifications.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Has good attention to detail and can identify where information needs further review.
  • Can work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
  • Has strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Is professional, approachable and motivated to learn.
  • Enjoys finding practical solutions to problems.

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to build on your existing skills and develop a career within a modern and evolving Highways and Transport service.

By joining us, you'll:

  • Be part of a growing team shaping the future of transport in North East Lincolnshire.
  • Gain experience across a wide range of traffic and road safety projects.
  • Work in a supportive environment that encourages learning and development.
  • Help improve how we use data, technology and evidence to inform decisions.
  • Make a visible and lasting difference to local communities.

If you care about delivering quality services, enjoy solving practical problems and want your work to contribute to safer, better-connected places, we'd love to hear from you.
