Financial Controller

Job Description

Location: Spalding area, Lincolnshire (office-based)

Salary: £55,000–£60,000

An established and growing UK manufacturing and installation business is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of its finance function. Operating for over three decades, the business delivers bespoke engineered solutions to well-known national and international customers. With continued growth and increasing operational complexity, the company is now bringing its finance capability fully in-house for the first time.

This role replaces a long-standing outsourced accountant and will suit someone who enjoys control, ownership, and visibility rather than managing large finance teams.

• Full ownership of month-end and year-end accounts
• Running the financial control of the office
• Managing and supporting two administrators
• Working closely with the company's external accounting firm
• Maintaining and improving financial policies, processes, and controls
• Providing clear, practical financial insight to a non-finance leadership team
• Helping bring structure, consistency, and robustness to the finance function
• Manage a finance team of 2

This is a hands-on role
, ideal for someone who likes being close to the detail and the business.

• Qualified accountant preferred (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar in an SME
• Strong background in month-end, year-end, and financial control
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing, engineering, construction, or project-based environment
• Confident working with external accountants and auditors
• Pragmatic, proactive, and comfortable operating as the sole senior finance professional
• Happy with a fully office-based role

• Office-based role (no hybrid or remote)
• Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm
• Friday: 8:30am–4:00pm
