About the role:

Keeping people safe without getting in their way.

Some people see IT systems. You see risks. Solutions. Ways to make security stronger.

At Lincolnshire Co-op, security isn't just about technology – it's about protecting our colleagues, customers and communities while enabling the business to thrive.

We're looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our Cyber Operations team, helping design secure solutions, strengthen our cyber defences and build security into everything we do from day one.

Because when security is built in from the start, everyone can work with confidence.

Where security meets innovation

Every connection matters. Every system, device and identity plays a part in keeping our organisation secure.

Working across projects, infrastructure and operational teams, you'll help shape secure solutions that balance with usability – making security something that enables the business rather than slowing it down.

It's about creating secure experiences people can trust.

Where curiosity protects the business

You'll work with technology that underpins the organisation – reviewing, improving and strengthening it so our colleagues can work securely every day.

One day, you might be reviewing the security of a new cloud solution before it's launched. The next, you'll be responding to vulnerabilities, improving identity controls or supporting the investigation of a security incident.

Responsibilities
  • Embedding security into projects from design through to delivery
  • Reviewing systems and architectures to identify and reduce cyber risk
  • Implementing and improving Zero Trust security controls
  • Strengthening identity and access management using Azure, Entra  Conditional Access
  • Securing endpoints, devices and infrastructure through Microsoft Intune and security best practice
  • Identifying, prioritising and remediating vulnerabilities across the IT estate
  • Supporting incident response and acting as a technical escalation point for complex security issues
  • Working alongside infrastructure, applications, service delivery and project teams to build security into everyday decisions
  • Translating technical cyber risks into clear, practical advice that colleagues can understand
  • Continuously improving our cyber security posture and helping us stay ahead of emerging threats

Because this role isn't just about responding to security challenges. It's about preventing them.

About You

The person who'll do well here enjoys solving complex problems while keeping security practical, collaborative and people‑centric.

You bring:

  • Experience in a Cyber Security Engineer, Infrastructure Security or similar technical security role
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies including Azure, Entra , Intune and Conditional Access
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust principles and modern authentication methods
  • Knowledge of hybrid Active Directory environments and identity security
  • Experience securing networks, endpoints and cloud services
  • Confidence investigating vulnerabilities and supporting security incident response
  • The ability to explain technical risks clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • A proactive approach to improving security controls and challenging the status quo
  • A passion for learning about emerging cyber threats, technologies and industry best practice

Most importantly, you care about making security better – not just more secure.

What adds up for you
  • 30 days annual leave (pro‑rata), including bank holidays
  • Pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions
  • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and grow your career
