Job Overview

Responsibilities
  • Lead the long‑term stewardship, development, and sustainability of Lincoln Cathedral and its historic estate, ensuring protection and careful care for future generations.
  • Provide senior leadership for the conservation of the Cathedral fabric and for the strategic development of the wider estate, including estate master planning, town planning, statutory consents, and long‑term sustainability.
  • Manage a portfolio of over 80 historic buildings and structures, residential and commercial properties, walls, and monuments within the Close, balancing strategic vision with operational delivery.
  • Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the on‑site Works Department, a centre of excellence for heritage skills and craft, to deliver high‑quality conservation work.
  • Build and lead productive, high‑performing specialist teams, fostering collaboration and strong relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a senior heritage professional with a proven track record managing complex, multi‑faced estates and assets.
  • Strong strategic acumen and the ability to manage operational delivery within a heritage context.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead collaborative, productive and high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent energy, vision and relationship building skills to support the ongoing care and development of Lincoln Cathedral.
  • Commitment to conservation of historic built heritage at the highest level.
