Job Description & How to Apply Below
Lincoln, Rushton Works
Job Description We are looking for an experienced Production Planning & Control Specialist to take ownership of daily production planning, logistics control and performance across four highly integrated operational areas:
New Parts. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a complex manufacturing environment, where priorities can change quickly and effective decision-making directly influences customer delivery performance. You will use SAP/ERP and APS systems to translate production requirements into achievable plans, monitor actual performance against schedule, identify constraints and drive timely resolution of issues across multiple plants, work centres and external suppliers.
With responsibility for production flows and consolidated inventory valued at £8m, you will play a critical role in maintaining data accuracy, optimising capacity and inventory, expediting subcontract activity and ensuring production remains on track.
Key Responsibilities Manage daily production planning and control across New Parts mainly. Coordinate multiple production routings, repair processes, assembly sequences and testing requirements. Use SAP/ERP and APS outputs to develop, monitor and optimise production plans. Track actual output against committed schedules and proactively address deviations. Drive cross-functional resolution of complex production issues involving people, equipment, materials, processes and capacity. Facilitate and lead timely action meetings to resolve issues affecting delivery, including escalation where required.
Maintain accurate production, inventory and work-order data across relevant digital systems. Optimise individual cell inventory levels while protecting production continuity and minimising excess working capital. Monitor work-centre capacity and resource utilisation to support optimal production flow. Manage and expedite subcontractor activity, ensuring external capacity, quality and delivery commitments align with internal production requirements. Provide clear daily and weekly performance reporting to the Production Planning & Control Manager.
Analyse production variances and recommend improvements to planning processes, system configuration and operational performance. Work closely with Cell Management, Logistics, Material Control, Engineering, Repair, Assembly, Testing, Purchasing, Shipping and Warehouse teams. Influence stakeholders at all levels to gain agreement on priorities and deliver against challenging production requirements. Identify opportunities to improve lean manufacturing, digital integration, planning accuracy and end-to-end value-stream performance.
What Success Looks Like You will be successful in this role if you can consistently:
Achieve 95% on-time performance across the relevant production areas. Maintain high accuracy of ERP/APS production and inventory data. Identify production risks early and coordinate effective corrective action. Improve utilisation of work-centre capacity and available resources. Maintain appropriate inventory levels while avoiding stock-outs and unnecessary working capital. Deliver strong subcontractor performance, with 95% delivery compliance as a key target. Provide clear, accurate and actionable production performance information.
Build effective relationships across multiple functions, plants and operational teams. Turn complex data and competing priorities into clear production decisions. About You We are looking for someone with strong production planning, material scheduling, expediting and manufacturing control experience. You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where you need to balance multiple priorities, analyse complex problems and influence teams without necessarily having direct line-management responsibility.
Essential Experience & Skills Proven experience in production planning, production control, material scheduling or logistics control within a complex manufacturing environment. Advanced knowledge of SAP/ERP production order management. Strong experience using planning and scheduling systems, ideally including APS. Experience managing multiple production processes or operational areas simultaneously. Experience coordinating repair, assembly, testing or similarly complex manufacturing routings. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience leading or facilitating complex cross-functional meetings. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers or external manufacturing capacity. Understanding of…
