Position: Post-doctoral Research Associate: Impact of Forced Displacement on Children's Socio-Moral Devel[...]

The School of Psychology, Sport Science & Wellbeing at the University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Post‑doctoral Research Associate to join an ambitious international research project investigating how exposure to violence and forced displacement shapes children’s and adolescents’ social, risk, and time preferences.

The post forms part of a project funded under the Trans‑Atlantic Platform programme and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge, policy‑relevant research on children’s development under conditions of adversity. You will work closely with Rhea Arini and international collaborators to manage large‑scale behavioural experiments with children, adolescents, and parents in conflict‑affected areas; analyse data resulting from those experiments; and write grant applications to conduct follow‑up experiments.

The University of Lincoln provides a vibrant and interdisciplinary research environment with strong expertise in moral development, cultural psychology, and social evolution. You will join a thriving research community and contribute to global debates on democracy, governance, social cohesion, and security.

The Role Will Involve
  • Managing and programming behavioural experiments
  • Applying advanced statistical methods to analyse complex data
  • Contributing to follow‑up grant applications
  • Producing high‑quality research outputs, including peer‑reviewed publications, policy briefs, and conference presentations
  • Supporting the supervision of students on research projects
  • Optionally contributing to teaching support activities

We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in behavioural economics, experimental psychology, or closely related disciplines. Candidates with strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g., R or Python) are particularly encouraged to apply.

Suitable Candidates Should Demonstrate
  • A strong background in behavioural and experimental research methods
  • Experience or clear potential in publishing high‑quality research outputs
  • Excellent analytical and statistical skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international research team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Psychology, Behavioural Economics, or a related field. Experience in advanced statistical analyses, designing experiments, and project management is essential.

Please note that this post requires an Enhanced DBS check.

This position offers significant opportunities for intellectual leadership, international collaboration, and career development within a project addressing major global challenges related to forced displacement and children’s socio‑moral development.

Informal enquiries regarding this post can be directed to Rhea Arini ().
