# Heritage Security and Site Operations Officer## Job Introduction Are you passionate about heritage, safety, and public service? Lincolnshire Archives is looking for a dedicated and professional individual to join our team as Heritage Security & Site Operations Officer—part-time (25.75 hours per week). This role is vital in ensuring the safety, security and smooth operation of some of Lincolnshire’s most treasured heritage sites.
** About the Role
** As a Heritage Security & Site Operations Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding our historic buildings, collections, visitors, and staff. This is a visible security presence role that requires confidence, professionalism and sound judgement when dealing with a wide range of situations.
** Due to recent changes in immigration law in the UK we are unable to offer skilled worker visa sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the requirements.
**** You’ll be responsible for:
*** Conducting regular indoor and outdoor patrols at Lincolnshire Archives. There may also be opportunities to work across other heritage sites to meet operational needs.
* Responding to security incidents, emergencies, and welfare concerns in a calm, professional, and proportionate manner.
* Engaging positively with members of the public and visitors, including managing situations involving challenging, disruptive, or anti-social behaviour.
* Managing situations involving individuals whose behaviour may be affected by alcohol, drugs, mental health issues, or other vulnerabilities, while maintaining professional boundaries and personal safety.
* Monitoring and controlling access to restricted areas and supervising contractors on site.
* Supporting a safe and welcoming environment for visitors whilst ensuring compliance with site security procedures.
* Carrying out compliance checks, keyholding duties (including call out) and basic site maintenance tasks.
* Completing incident reports and escalating concerns appropriately in line with organisational procedures.
* Working in accordance with health and safety requirements, conflict management principles, and safeguarding procedures.
** Rota pattern is Monday to Friday 12.30 - 17.30 and one Saturday per month, alternate months. Some opportunities for overtime providing cover.
**** What We’re Looking For
** We're seeking individuals who are:
* Professional, resilient, and confident, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
* Experienced in dealing with members of the public, including individuals displaying anti-social, aggressive, confrontational, or unpredictable behaviour.
* Customer-focused, able to maintain a courteous, respectful, and professional approach even in difficult circumstances.
* Skilled communicators, capable of using conflict management and de-escalation techniques to resolve situations safely and effectively.
* Security-conscious, with an understanding of personal safety, dynamic risk assessment, and incident management.
* Physically fit, as the role involves regular patrols, extended periods of walking and responding promptly to incidents across the site.
* Flexible and dependable, with the ability to work occasional additional hours to support operational requirements.
** Essential Requirements
*** Aged 18 or over
* Willingness to undertake First Aid and SIA training if not already qualified.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
* A commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and visitor care.
* Experience of working in a public-facing security, enforcement, customer service, community safety or similar environment.
* Ability to undertake dynamic risk assessments and prioritise personal safety when responding to incidents.
* Understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity, respect and professionalism, including those displaying challenging behaviour.
