Sr. Specialist, License Customs Broker
Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in diagnostic equipment, seeks an experienced License Customs Broker to support all aspects of international trade and ensure compliance with federal and international regulations.
Responsibilities- Continuous review, evaluation, and updating of Sysmex international trade processes to align with changing federal regulations and SAI overall international trade strategy. Maintain SOPs and work instructions for GTS as needed.
- Develop, document, train, and monitor processes to ensure compliance with Export Authorization Regulations (EAR) enforced by the Bureau of Industry and Security and Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) enforced by the Department of Commerce.
- Review export documentation to ensure compliance with EAR and Foreign Trade requirements.
- Ensure that new materials created in SAP are identified for international trade with accurate Harmonized Tariff Code Classifications (HTS) and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN). Utilize the SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) module to screen and release blocked documents, partner with Customer Service/Transportation to resolve order issues, and conduct determination/entry of ECCN for new and existing parts.
- Stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations; attend meetings, conferences, and confer with colleagues to maintain awareness. Update knowledge of the legal or regulatory environment as applicable and confer with the Sysmex Clearance broker to facilitate clearance of freight through customs and/or quarantine.
- Ensure payment of taxes and duties on shipments is made with the Sysmex brokerage house; inform importers and exporters of steps to reduce duties and taxes when applicable.
- Build and maintain relationships with Sysmex customs broker (QBRs); provide direction to the broker to appeal duty charges if applicable.
- Maintain the HTS code table (US and Canada) in SAP; determine HTS codes for Win shuttle requests and update as necessary. Provide support for Sysmex Latin America HS code determination and entry into SAP.
- Apply for and/or amend embargo licenses to maintain embargo control over Cuba and monitor Cuba exports to ensure compliance.
- Support IT efforts to maintain system effectiveness, including investigating partially processed orders, supporting system upgrades and enhancements via validation test execution, etc.
- Support Operations and Transportation initiatives as needed, including assignment to cross‑functional projects with colleagues and other business partners.

Work HoursFull time, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary: $80,000 – $100,000 annually. Benefits include a choice of health care plan (medical, vision, and dental insurance), an annual incentive bonus, paid time off, parental leave, bereavement leave, and a 401(k) for eligible employees.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years required experience in SAP GTS, Export Compliance, Import/Export/Distribution; a bachelor’s degree in Trade Compliance preferred, including experience in the Armed Forces.
- Customs Broker License.
- English proficiency.
- Proficiency in SAP navigation and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); strong knowledge of customs laws and regulations; attention to detail; excellent organizational and time‑management skills; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional communication skills; self‑motivated, organized, capable of working unsupervised for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of IATA regulations, SOLAS regulations, and/or the Customs and Border Protection’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) System is a plus.
