Job purpose
The Quality Supervisor III is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance in the Lindon 3 facility. This includes maintaining compliance with industry regulations (FDA, FSMA, SQF), developing and executing quality systems, leading the QA team, and ensuring all candy products meet internal and external quality standards.
Duties and responsibilities- Quality Systems Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, and other food safety regulations.
- Oversee document control, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality records.
- Product Quality Oversight:
- Monitor production for compliance with product specifications.
- Manage product testing, sensory evaluations, and non-conformance investigations.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise QA Supervisors and food safety personnel.
- Conduct training on GMPs, sanitation, allergens, and quality procedures.
- Promote a strong quality and food safety culture across departments.
- Regulatory & Customer Compliance:
- Act as the primary point of contact for audits (SQF, customer, FDA).
- Manage complaint investigations and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure proper labeling, allergen controls, and traceability.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze quality trends and implement data-driven improvements.
- Collaborate with production, R&D, and maintenance to resolve issues.
- Lead or support Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Education:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- College / University Degree in Food Science or similar (preferred)
- Experience:
- 5+ years in food manufacturing quality assurance, preferably in confectionery.
- 2+ years of management or supervisory experience.
- Certifications:
- HACCP, SQF Practitioner, PCQI
- Skills:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
- Strong knowledge of FDA food regulations and allergen control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality systems software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be comfortable working in manufacturing environments (temperature-controlled, noise, food allergens).
- May require occasional evening or weekend availability for audits or production needs.
- Hearing protection may be required.
- Normal office physical requirements.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk within the production environment.
- Quality Supervisors on each shift.
