About the jobReporting to the Manager, Maintenance Services
, you'll provide leadership and oversight for maintenance operations at Central East Correctional Centre by:
- Planning and supervising maintenance, repair, and renovation projects
- Scheduling work, resources, and project priorities
- Assisting with budget planning and submissions
- Collaborating with managers, contractors, and facility staff
- Leading, training, and directing maintenance staff and inmate workers
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, and security protocols
- Supporting the ongoing maintenance, safety, and operation of the institution

What you bring to the teamMaintenance Knowledge and Experience
- You have extensive maintenance and/or construction experience gained through a combination of education, apprenticeship training, and progressively responsible work experience.
- You have knowledge of skilled and semi-skilled trades to oversee and support maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction projects.
- You have experience operating power tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively.
- You can interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical drawings.
- You have strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify, assess, and resolve a variety of maintenance issues.
- You have demonstrated leadership experience directing, training, and supervising maintenance staff, apprentices, trades workers, and inmate work crews.
- You have strong planning and organizational skills to prioritize, schedule, assign, and monitor work to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- You can build effective working relationships, provide clear direction, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
- You have knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, regulations, and practices, including OHSA, WHMIS, and safe work procedures.
- You have knowledge of provincial building codes, municipal by‑laws, and other regulatory requirements relevant to maintenance and construction projects.
- You can interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional protocols to ensure compliance within a correctional setting.
- You have the ability to identify hazards, assess risks, recognize security concerns, and implement appropriate corrective actions to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- You have effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff, management, contractors, and stakeholders.
- You have strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess maintenance and renovation needs, establish priorities, and provide recommendations.
- You can identify, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve a variety of maintenance-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
