The facility cares for 45,000 patients per year in its 24/7 emergency department, and offers orthopedics, ophthalmology, a dialysis unit, mental health programs, and restorative seniors care.
Department/Unit/Program DescriptionThe 4th Floor Surgical Unit serves both medical and surgical patients with a range of complexities including CHF, COPD, bowel obstructions, and general medicine cases. Surgical cases cover orthopedics, general surgery, eye, women’s health, and urology. Registered Nurses on the unit must be proficient in coronary care and telemetry.
Position SummaryThe Surgical 4th Floor Unit is currently seeking one Permanent Part‑Time "B" Registered Nurse to join the healthcare team. Effective Date:
February 23, 2026.
- Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Must comply with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
- Current CPR certification essential, on hire
- Current IV Therapy and Medications certification essential
- Coronary Care 1 at a post‑graduate level or position is conditional upon obtaining it within six months of hire (online)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff, patients, and the public
- Demonstrated good communication, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
- BScN
- Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing
Must be available to work twelve‑hour day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
