About Ross Memorial Hospital

Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) is an active, acute‑care community hospital located in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes. We care for 45,000 patients per year in our emergency department, provide orthopedics and ophthalmology, operate a dialysis unit, and are renowned for our mental health programs and restorative seniors care.

Department/Unit/Program Description

The Women & Child Health Program, Obstetrics Unit provides a homelike environment to make the birthing experience more relaxed and comfortable. This is a family‑centered concept of labour and delivery. The mother’s partner or any support person she chooses may remain with her during her hospital stay. Babies are cared for by their mother and family, and will only leave mother if a test needs to be done or if there is a clinical need to observe the baby more closely.

This unit is comprised of both obstetrical and surgical beds. The OBS unit is LDRP with the operating room completing cesarean section cases.

Ross Memorial Hospital qualifies for the Government of Canada’s Student Loan Forgiveness Program. Nurses may be eligible to receive up to $30,000 in loan forgiveness.
