Registered Nurse, Correctional Health – Anoka County.

Work Location
  • Anoka County Workhouse, 3300 4th Ave N, Anoka, MN 55303.
  • Anoka County Juvenile Center, 7565 4th Ave, Lino Lakes, MN 55014.
  • Expected work hours may vary to include shift rotation, night, and weekend hours.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet the psychological, physical, and mental health needs of inmates.
  • Perform assessments of inmates in settings such as intake/booking, sick call, chronic care, medical unit, and emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Review and assess prescribed medications brought in by inmates, coordinate and administer medication and treatment to inmates.
  • Arrange for additional health care, including appointments for dental, medical, psychological, laboratory and other treatment modes.
  • Implement nursing care and medical orders in a knowledgeable, safe, and responsible manner.
  • Maintain all medical records related to health and medical screening and medical treatment administered to inmates while incarcerated.
  • Train correctional officers and staff regarding medical procedures.
  • Promote and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.
  • Successfully pass driver's license background check.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field; strong interpersonal and communication skills; previous correctional health or similar experience.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Standard office environment, correctional and detention institutions, field offices, courtrooms, offender/clients' homes, hospitals and schools, and various community settings.
  • Work activities may require contact with uncooperative, angry, or sometimes hostile clients depending on assignment.
  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity (bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, handling/carrying medical equipment).
  • Regular lifting of 0–25 lbs.; occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious agents, toxic or caustic chemicals, airborne particles, fumes, or other hazards.
  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
Selection Process and Pre‑employment Requirements

The selection process may include interviews beginning the week of December 22, 2025 for candidates who advance. Successful applicants will need to pass pre‑employment criminal/driving background check, drug screen, DOT physical, and other qualifications checks, and may be required to sign an informed consent form.
