Principal/Sr Principal Engineer Electrical - R
Location:
On-site at Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) in Linthicum, MD or Annapolis Junction, MD. Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance Type:
Top Secret. Travel:
Yes, 10% of the time.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary technical team of engineers and physicists to develop novel high-density cable prototypes.
- Make design decisions and provide technical direction on Interconnects and Signal Distribution (I&SD) Electrical Designs.
- Perform technical planning related to system integration, spearhead verification and validation efforts, execute trade studies, generate system requirements, and manage technical and schedule risk and opportunities.
- Be accountable for all program deliverables for any cable maturation work scope.
- Collaborate with multiple technical teams across the MDA business area to achieve goals.
- Synthesize high-level technical details, generate content, and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
The Role
- Multidisciplinary technical background in hardware engineering, electrical engineering, RF design/simulation, systems engineering, and physics.
- Experience driving requirements of less mature technologies toward long-term system applications.
- Experience with risk and opportunity management.
- Systems thinking approach to solving technical problems.
- Ownership mindset and strong leadership capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate in a group setting as well as work independently.
Note:
This position can be filled as either Principal Electrical Engineer (Cable Hardware Engineering Lead) or Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer (Cable Hardware Engineering Lead).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM field with 5 years of digital engineering; 3 years with MS; 1 year with PhD.
- Experience in developing hardware technologies toward program goals.
- Experience generating technical requirements for system applications from early maturity demonstrations.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary US Government security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM with 8 years of digital engineering; 6 years with MS; 4 years with PhD.
- Experience in developing hardware technologies toward program goals.
- Experience generating technical requirements for system applications from early maturity demonstrations.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary US Government security clearance.
- PhD in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or related field.
- Knowledge of mixed-signal superconducting electronics, low-temperature thermal transport, and RF network measurements and analysis.
- Deep proficiency with RF design engineering and communicating requirements to external vendors.
- Experience with novel cable technology development.
- Track record of leading multi-disciplinary technical teams to achieve complex objectives.
- Active security clearance.
