Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal / Sr. Principal Factory Process Control Systems Engineer to support advanced technology development programs. The position is located at Linthicum, MD.

Relocation Assistance: Relocation assistance may be available.
Clearance Type: A US Government security clearance required per customer’s requirements.
Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • Support integration and setup of process control tools—including Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Advanced Process Control (APC), Statistical Process Control (SPC), out-of-control corrective action system (OCAP), and a Recipe Management System (RMS)—for a new superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line.
  • Define and maintain implementation schedules for process control systems, identify roadblocks and potential solutions by working with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Perform requirements elicitation and collaborate with stakeholders on initial setup of process control modules.
  • Create acceptance test plans with the team based on inputs from the process engineering organization.
  • Apply systems engineering best practices, principles, and concepts to architectures within a manufacturing context.
  • Identify industry trends, best‑in‑class solutions, and evaluate with internal stakeholders for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering team members.
Basic Qualifications For Principal Factory Process Control Systems Engineer
  • A degree in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with a minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years of experience with a master’s degree, or 0 years with a PhD.
  • Able to support execution of Statement of Work (SOW) components with vendors and work cross‑functionally within a team.
  • Familiarity with SPC and Six‑sigma concepts for process development.
  • Strong problem‑solving / troubleshooting skills and demonstrated success in high‑volume manufacturing.
  • Has worked with process quality systems such as FDC, APC, SPC, and/or RMS.
  • Understands engineering control plans used to ensure quality of process and tool health.
  • Must be willing to work on site 100% of the time.
  • Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required.
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance per business requirements.
