As we grow, we are looking for an experienced Accountancy Practice Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the practices accounts function.
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will oversee deadlines, workflows, client onboarding and team scheduling, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and on time.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the practice workflow and ensuring that all client work and statutory deadlines are effectively monitored and delivered.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing deadlines across the full client portfolio, including VAT returns, PAYE and CIS filings, annual accounts, Corporation Tax, Self Assessment and Companies House filings
- Managing workflows through Client Engager, ensuring job statuses are accurate and work is progressed through to completion
- Maintaining the Client Master File as the single source of truth for client information, services, fees and deadlines, ensuring it remains fully reconciled with Client Engager
- Managing client onboarding administration, including engagement letters, AML and identity checks, authorisations and professional clearance
- Allocating and scheduling work across the team, identifying potential bottlenecks and taking action before deadlines are missed
- Liaising with clients to obtain outstanding records and information
- Keeping the Directors informed of outstanding work, delays and any issues affecting deadlines
- Supporting billing, work-in-progress monitoring and reporting
- Helping to maintain efficient processes and high standards across the practice
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have strong experience within an accountancy practice and be confident managing a varied portfolio of clients.
You should have experience in:
- Bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
- Preparing year-end accounts
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management reporting packs
- Preparing and submitting personal, partnership and Corporation Tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Managing deadlines and prioritising work in a busy practice environment
- Dealing confidently with clients and obtaining information required to complete work
- General accountancy practice administration and duties as required
Essential Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in an accountancy practice
