The Role We seek to recruit an accounts technician who is technically highly competent but willing to go the extra mile to service our client's needs to a high standard, but also to embrace the advisory focus of this new practice and support it to grow externally and internally. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable candidate to development their career rapidly in an advisory practice.
Your role would be to enable the delivery of projects, reporting to the Senior Accountant & Directors, and to support the development of the business successfully.
Key Duties:
Delivery of a wide range of project and client types from sole traders/partnerships to Limited Companies; Delivery of a wide range of high-quality accountancy services including: a) Statutory accounts for private limited companies b) Year-end accounts for sole traders and partnerships c) Corporate and personal tax returns and calculations Weekly & monthly bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and accounts payable/receivable;
Payroll, Pension and financial systems advice;
Preparation & Submission of VAT returns;
Management accounts and performance reporting for all types of businesses;
Financial and business analysis for all types of businesses; A range of administration tasks associated with an operational role in an accountancy and consultancy practice;
Develop an understanding of our client's and their businesses;
Become familiar with all our accounting and tax software;
Professional communication and (self) management - your ability to work as part of a team is essential to your role at every level;
Keep senior staff fully informed of any issues and problems, ensure work is completed to a level agreed with and record clearly and concisely work done. About you Essential ATI or AAT qualified, or qualified by experience with equivalent depth Several years of experience in an accountancy practice environment Confident preparing and reviewing VAT returns and handling bookkeeping to trial balance Comfortable with practice management software and cloud accounting platforms Genuinely organised, with a track record of running processes rather than just working within them Willing and able to chase clients in a professional manner to ensure deadlines are met Clear communicator, in writing and on the phone, with clients and colleagues
Desirable Experience with Client Engager or a comparable practice management system Xero Certification or experience using the system AI System experience Experience improving or implementing internal systems and workflows in a practice Exposure to PAYE, CIS and self-assessment Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff What we offer A varied week rather than the same task on repeat Competitive Salary Hybrid working model, 2 days WFH Support for continuing professional development Private Medical Insurance Annual leave above the statutory entitlement Annual performance bonus
