Firefighter Controls

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) serves the entire community, a population of 1.9 million in an area of over 5,500 square miles. NIFRS has a proud tradition and history of serving the community with distinction.

NIFRS wish to invite applications for the following role:

The Regional Control Centre is the first point of contact for members of the public with NIFRS when an emergency arises. A Firefighter (Control) answers emergency calls using specialised techniques in order to support and protect callers in potentially life threatening situations whilst mobilising fire service resources.

IDXorsa The role is challenging and as such will involve a rigorous selection process with only candidates of the very highest calibre succeeding.

In order to be successful in the role, a Firefighter (Control) must be able to process information quickly, prioritise tasks and work calmly under pressure. They must also be able to work effectively in a team and possess excellent communication skills. This is a rewarding role offering the opportunity for job satisfaction and career development.

The Regional Control Centre (RCC) is based at NIFRS Headquarters in Lisburn, 1 Seymour Street, Lisburn, BT27 4SX
. RCC provides a 24/7 service, 365 days a year and as such, successful candidates will be required to work a ‘shift system.’

The salary range is currently £28,865 (development) – £36,937 (competent) per annum. You will commence on development rate悉 of pay.

A reserve list of appointable candidates will be created and will remain live for 18 months. After immediate vacancies have been filled, this reserve list may be used to fill any Firefighter (Control) vacancies which arise during the period舒服 the reserve list remains live.

Note that a Firefighter (Control) does not carry out Firefighting duties and does not provide a career path into the role of Wholetime or On Call Firefighter.
