DescriptionSalary: £27,000 per annum with potential to progress up to £32,000 per annum
Company Bonus Scheme: £1,500 per annum based on performance. OTE earnings for year 1: £28,500.
Job Type: Full Time, permanent role
Experience: No teaching experience required – full training, support and development provided.
Transport: UK/EU Driving Licence and own transport essential.
Holiday: 11+ weeks paid holiday a year
Location: Teach in multiple schools across a regional area each week.
Fuel: Fuel contributions in addition to salary
As a band leader you will:
- Teach groups of primary‑age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
- Give children their first opportunity to learn an instrument – teach drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
- Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders, supported by central teams.
- Be a rock and pop star role‑model, empowering and supporting children to deliver live performances at end‑of‑term concerts.
- Help children develop self‑belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
- Represent Rocksteady, building strong relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
- Be prepared for highly active days and spend time driving between schools, loading and unloading band equipment.
As a band leader you’ll need:
- To be competent on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals.
- Enthusiasm to learn how to teach band lessons and complete the extensive training programme before starting timetable.
- Resilience to work in a role with both great moments and challenges – often all in one day.
- Confidence to be yourself at work and communicate effectively with children, teachers and parents.
- Integrity to promote the safety and well‑being of children and young people.
- Organised, independent worker with good time management and administration skills.
- UK/EU driving licence and own transport to travel between schools.

Applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check with a children’s barred list check.
As this role involves regular work with children and young people, and meets the definition of regulated activity, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
