OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

Ionic Products Ltd is looking for a Production Manager to work closely with the Senior management team to forward the growth and development of the company over the coming years.

The successful candidate will control all aspects of the day to day running of the production department and develop and promote a business improvement culture which facilitates the generation of improvement opportunities and coordinates the process through to completion, with the ultimate objective of improving the overall effectiveness of the organisation.

Main

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work to continuously develop improvements to production methods and processes and reduction of waste, through the monitoring, measuring and recording of efficiency and effectiveness and the identification of business improvement initiatives.
  • Maximise machine and people efficiencies to reduce lead times and downtimes through effective production planning, taking advantage of the flexibility of the machinery and availability of working hours.
  • Develop and implement effective logistics control systems in conjunction with the Warehouse & Distribution Manager to ensure stock levels are in line with industry norms.
  • Control all production purchasing requirements including minor price negotiations.
  • Meet regularly with the Operations Director and management team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.
  • In conjunction with the management team, contribute to the development of the short, medium and long term strategies for the company.
  • Work effectively with other staff to ensure effective implementation of business improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement a training programme for staff relative to new or enhanced working methods and systems.
  • Review and revise policy, procedures and standards in order to clearly reflect any new working methods while ensuring all company standards and procedures are maintained.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring any new processes comply with legislative Health and Safety requirements and ensure the continuous improvement of Health and Safety standards throughout the plant.
  • Proactively manage all levels of employee performance through the process of KPI review and performance appraisal.
  • Foster effective teamwork and ensure a neutral and harmonious working environment.
  • Assist in logistically expediting customer orders when required.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required
  • Third Level qualification in relevant discipline or 5 years relevant industry experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of production planning experience in a medium sized industrial environment
  • A minimum of 2 years purchasing experience.
  • Experience in leading, motivating and appraising teams
  • Some experience with health and safety legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including effective presentation and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, innovative and decision making skills
  • Strong organisational and planning ability
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Results focused with ability to work on own initiative
  • Computer literate, particularly in the use of MS Excel / Nav (Business central) or similar system.
  • Capable of working flexible hours
