This is an opportunity to play a key role in promoting the Council area as a tourist destination, supporting exciting initiatives and working with businesses, partners and industry stakeholders to help develop the local tourism offering.

You’ll be part of the Economic Development Team, working closely with the Tourism Development Manager to deliver projects, coordinate events and drive marketing and promotional activities. If you’re organised, creative and confident building relationships, this could be the role for you!

  • Managing Projects:
Coordinating contracts, contractors and services, ensuring activities are delivered effectively.
  • Promoting the Destination:
Supporting marketing campaigns, website updates, newsletters, promotional materials and digital communications.
  • Building Partnerships:
Working with tourism businesses, industry representatives and local, regional and international partners to raise the profile of the area.
  • Delivering Events:
Coordinating conferences, exhibitions, business visits and promotional activities that showcase the Council area.
  • Monitoring Performance:
Preparing reports, analysing data and tracking project outcomes to meet Council and funding requirements.
  • Supporting Budgets:
Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring income, expenditure and performance.
  • Leading a Team:
Managing and supporting the team to deliver an effective, high-quality service.
  • Maintaining Standards:
Ensuring compliance with Council policies, financial procedures, safeguarding, health and safety and equality requirements.

You may also be required to undertake occasional duties outside normal working hours to support events and service delivery.

We’re keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in project delivery, marketing, event coordination or stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to prepare reports, interpret information and monitor performance.
  • Confidence building relationships and working with a wide range of partners.
  • Good financial awareness and an understanding of budget monitoring.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects to a high standard.
  • A proactive, professional approach to teamwork and customer service.

Experience in tourism development, economic development, destination marketing or a similar environment would be beneficial.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • £21.65 per hour - a clear hourly pay rate.
  • Hybrid working - enjoy a working arrangement with 2 remote days and 3 office-based days.
  • Meaningful projects - contribute to tourism initiatives that promote the local area.
