Gardener Key Role Information

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Gardener to help maintain and enhance our planted areas, ensuring they are weed‑free, well cared for, and visually appealing. This is a hands‑on, physical role that is key to maintaining a welcoming environment across the Hillbrush site and, when required, other company‑owned properties.

During the winter months, when gardening activity is reduced, you will also assist with a variety of general maintenance and handy tasks around the premises. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided.

This is a part‑time position working 18 hours per week, across 3 days (Monday – Friday). The starting hourly rate for this position is £13.20.

• Carry out regular grounds maintenance, including weeding, pruning, and trimming shrubs and bushes
• Ensure all planted areas are clean, tidy, and free from debris
• Monitor plant health, identify issues, and take appropriate remedial action
• Grass cutting and hedge maintenance as required
• Assist in planning and implementation of new planting projects
• Apply fertilizers and pesticides as required, following safety guidelines
• Safely operate, clean, and maintain gardening tools and equipment
• Support general site maintenance tasks during quieter gardening periods

• Proven experience in gardening or grounds maintenance, ideally in a similar role
• Good knowledge of plant species and their care requirements
• Experience using gardening tools and equipment safely
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Good communications skills
