Job Purpose:
The role will provide a support service to Tier 2 families with children aged 0-3 years, in a sensitive, respectful and non-discriminatory manner. The post holder will provide practical and emotional support to help families manage their daily lives and increase their confidence and independence.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To contribute to the delivery of services designed to improve the wellbeing, development and opportunities for children aged 0-3 years and their families.
- To promote the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of children and to work at all times in their best interests.
- To support families by visiting them in their own homes or at local venues convenient to them, introducing families to available services, raising awareness of the support available and assisting them to access appropriate services.
- To provide families with programmes, information, advice, guidance and signposting on a range of issues, which may include behaviour strategies, sleep, nutrition, and breastfeeding. This support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in group settings.
- To identify barriers that may prevent families from accessing services within the local community and contribute to addressing these barriers, particularly for families experiencing disadvantage.
- To contribute to the development of services and initiatives that support families. Where appropriate, to work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to develop initiatives that meet the core purpose of Lisburn Sure Start.
- To represent Lisburn Sure Start by attending and contributing to interagency meetings and working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies across the locality.
- To deliver a supportive, tailored and person-centred service to children and their families, using the Outcomes Star Model as appropriate to the needs of the family.
- To empower families to engage in support through a person-centred, solution-focused approach, ensuring that families are actively involved in identifying their needs and guiding their package of support.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of QCF Level 3 Child Care qualification or equivalent (completed or working towards)
- Minimum of 1 years paid / unpaid working with children or families
- Minimum of two years recent (within the last 5 years) experience of working with families in a family support role
- Grade C and above in Maths and English
- Clean drivers licence and access to transport. Successful candidate will be required to have business insurance for their job role.

A satisfactory Access NI Enhanced / Standard disclosure or Garda Clearance is required prior to commencement of employment.
