Chief Estimator – Lisle, IL

Overview

We currently have an opportunity for a Chief Estimator in Lisle, IL. The primary objective of this position is to work as part of an estimating team focused on Heavy Highway Construction. This is a leadership position and will be part of the senior management team of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of the estimating process
  • Conduct thorough analysis of drawings and specifications, ensuring required information is provided
  • Perform detailed project cost estimates using estimating software such as HCSS
  • Research selected products from a cost and constructability perspective
  • Solicit sub‑contractor pricing and bids for different trades in preparation of cost estimates
  • Review progress and construction documents for constructability; lead and participate in discussions regarding alternate detail and materials for specific areas or trades
  • Provide and present value engineering options and costs
  • Provide and present estimating productions and scheduling
  • Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors
Qualifications
  • College degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
  • Substantial construction experience and/or engineering background
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods and means
  • Local knowledge of the industry
  • Must be fluent in English—written and oral
Skills
  • Highly proficient in selected software (Excel, Word, Outlook), HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software, and P6 a plus
  • Ability to make decisions, work independently, and coordinate with estimating colleagues
  • Ability to meet critical project deadlines, willingness to coordinate and work as a team member
