Position Summary

Benedictine University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Psychology. The position will start in Fall 2026 and involve teaching graduate clinical psychology courses in person at the Lisle campus and/or may include both in person and online undergraduate courses across campuses.

Job Responsibilities

The department is looking for a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to teach graduate courses in the Master of Clinical Psychology program; however, other applicants with a psychology degree will be considered to teach undergraduate psychology courses (in person and online) as the needs of the department evolve. To earn tenure all faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, service to the program and university, and professional and scholarly development (peer review publication).

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to reach our diverse student body (which includes significant religious diversity, first‑generation, immigrant, and other non‑traditional students). Participation in department and collegial meetings as well as providing academic and career advising to undergraduate students is expected.

Required Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. or PsyD in Psychology or a closely related field is required.
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist is preferred; others will be considered.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education and/or experience as a practicing psychologist or counselor is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with certification in addictions counseling (CADC) will also receive extra consideration.
Physical Requirements

May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk, or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.

Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General customer service and office environment.
