CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineer in Lisle, IL to lead CEI construction inspection activities, supervise field staff, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development.

• Lead and supervise construction inspection activities at transportation projects (roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion & control, maintenance and traffic).
• Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure activities are on schedule and meet contract requirements.
• Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet deadlines.
• Supervise field inspection staff.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large or complex construction projects.
• Participate in new business development and maintain client relationships.
• Mentor junior employees.
• Assist in developing and implementing new CEI strategies.
• Keep abreast of new methods and recommend changes or new programs as warranted.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or FE exam passed (within 18 months of hire or transfer when EIT is not obtainable).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (travel frequency dependent on project).
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
• Travel approximately 20% of the time.

• Expert knowledge of construction management/engineering, inspection techniques, software, and practices.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, specifications, and requirements.

  Min $87,131 - Max $152,485.
