Lead Residential Night Mentor
Litchfield, CT 06759
38 hours/ week
$23.97 per hour

About the Job:
The Lead Night Mentor position will act as an extension of supervisory/leadership presence in the evening and overnight hours at the AMIR program. Lead Night Youth Mentors will provide direct care to the residents, supervise the milieu, and assure safe and appropriate interactions between staff and youth are occurring. Lead Night Youth Mentors have proven experience working with adolescents and will provide support and mentorship to fellow Youth Mentors on shift.

  • Offer assistance and guidance to Youth Mentors
  • Bring the boys to the basketball courts and to the pond to go fishing when time allows it
  • Utilize a company provided vehicle to bring residential boys to appointments
  • Ensure physical safety of youth and provide Crisis Intervention
  • Conduct routine counts to make sure clients are present and safe
  • Conduct routine bed checks to ensure youth are present in their beds
  • Maintain a professional relationship with youth maintaining proper physical boundaries
  • Complete all written reports as assigned
  • Be aware and assure safety of youth with special needs (physical or emotional)
  • Perform crisis watches as instructed
  • Provide transportation to clients and families as needed
  • Maintain Administration of Medication Certification
  • Reinforce and role model youth individual needs plan

Schedule & Rate of Pay:

  • Sunday 7pm-7am, Monday 7pm-7am, Tuesday 7pm-7am and Wednesday 2pm-4pm = 38 hours per week
  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday off
  • You can also accept per diem hours as they become available
  • Overtime/ time and a half eligible
  • Rate of pay is $23.97 per hour
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents – Required
  • Valid driver’s license – Required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations or applying culturally responsive practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work scheduled shifts
