Director of Purchasing

Location:

Lindsay, CA or Lithia Springs, GA Purpose of Role
  • Lead the Purchasing organization for Global NDS Group Operations
  • Develop & Govern sustainable processes to assure purchased goods have lowest market prices while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Provide commodity intelligence and develop both long‑ and short‑term strategies within each commodity.

  • Align and execute according to company objectives in the area of procurement.
Main Responsibilities
  • Develop a world‑class purchasing organization by investing in talent, processes & systems.
  • Define and implement sourcing and purchasing strategies aligned with company goals for cost, quality and delivery.
  • Manage Global Water Suppliers.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage key suppliers to ensure performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives (Global Excellence) through strategic sourcing, process improvement, and value engineering.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and material availability to mitigate risks.
  • Build/develop team with category‑specific expertise.
  • Maintain contingency planning program. The program must conduct risk assessments, then design and manage adequate measures to address supply and price risk for all commodities.
  • Deliver bottom‑line business results for Global Water business.
  • Develop and drive cross‑regional optimization and standardization of processes.
  • Implement best practices, digital tools, and standardized procedures across the purchasing organization.
Skill Profile
  • 10+ years professional experience in global commodity management and strategic sourcing.
  • Experienced in team management and senior leadership reporting.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of the product category.
  • Deep understanding of commodity cost drivers and market information analysis skills.
  • Willingness to travel (30%).
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills / stakeholder management.
  • Execution focus.
  • Experience working in matrix organizations.
  • Understanding of leading cross‑functional complex projects.
  • Strong internal and external customer centricity.
  • Experience in OZ Principle and managing by OKR preferred.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing a global or multi‑site procurement team.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (preferably automotive, plastics, or components).
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Expertise in category management, cost modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365, Syspro or similar).
  • Understanding of compliance and ethical sourcing standards, including FCPA and supplier code of conduct.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and KPI tracking to measure supplier performance and purchasing effectiveness.
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
  • Strategic thinker with ability to align purchasing strategy to business goals.
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills across global functions (operations, finance, engineering, etc.).
  • Proven ability to develop talent, foster accountability, and build high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrates integrity, financial discipline, and results orientation.
