COS Operator

COS Operator is a key role in battery formation. The COS Operator will stack the elements of the battery core in the correct and safe order to be placed inside the battery. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The COS Stacking Operator must perform the role safely, wearing all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including a respirator. They will ensure plates are fitting correctly, lugs are clean, and the plate count is accurate. They will also ensure groups are feeding correctly on the line and onto the paddle conveyors for the next station.

• Load separators and plates into the machine, ensuring proper alignment
• Ensure the machine is operating correctly
• Make efficient changeovers to equipment as scheduled
• Perform visual inspections for quality and quantity, making minor adjustments as needed under supervision
• Operate a forklift to move materials
• Identify various plate types
• Complete production reports as required
• Use hand tools and learn specific machine controls and gauges
• Follow hygiene rules, including mandatory showering and lunch periods on-site
• Lift 50-80 lbs. and stand for extended periods

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher
• Forklift Certification
• 6 months to 1 year of manufacturing or plant experience
• Basic English proficiency for safety instructions
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
