Responsibilities- Position Summary:
Athletic Trainers (ATs) work under the supervision of a physician to provide injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, while promoting the health and well-being of patients. They may work in the clinic or outreach settings at the highest level of licensure and follow professional standards set by the BOC and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians. - Serve as a liaison with physicians when appropriate and seek physician input on clinical matters.
- Identify opportunities and help secure additional secondary school, college, youth program, or event contracts.
- Review quality and appropriateness of services delivered using predefined quality assurance criteria.
- Ensure effective interaction among customers, patients, support staff, and physicians.
- Handle wound care and dressing as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate professional and interpersonal skills in communication with peers, leaders, and the community.
- Graduate of a CAATE-approved Athletic Training Program.
- Master’s Degree required (or as stipulated for employees who graduated prior to 2022).
- BOC Certification and valid PA State Athletic Training license.
- CPR Healthcare BLS certification.
- CEU requirements to stay in compliance with BOC requirements.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- One year of experience in a traditional setting.
- Clinical experience in outpatient office.
- Attention and concentration: ability to focus on multiple aspects of a situation simultaneously.
- New learning and memory: ability to learn and retain material, process verbal information, and organize information for later recall.
- Problem solving, reasoning and creative thinking: autonomy of thought, ability to apply logical or scientific thinking, and to think abstractly to solve problems.
- Adaptability: performing under stress, handling multiple tasks, clear communication, planning and control, and interpersonal relations.
- Equipment: various clinical and office tools and software including Microsoft Office, EPIC, Healthy Roster.
- Physical requirements:
varied postures and movements with moderate physical exertion, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. - Working conditions:
exposure to blood borne pathogens, extreme noises and temperatures.
- Vocational/Trade Diploma (Required).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required);
Athletic Trainer License (Required);
Athletic Trainer Certification (Required).
