Job Description & How to Apply Below
Build the hardware and software infrastructure that helps intelligent robots learn, operate, and scale in real-world environments. You will bring up robotic platforms, integrate advanced sensors, create dependable data and teleoperation systems, and help researchers rapidly prototype and deploy new capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Bring up, integrate, and maintain humanoids, robotic manipulators, mobile robots, and custom end effectors.
- Build and maintain integrations with ROS 2, hardware SDKs, and custom control interfaces.
- Design scalable multimodal robotics data-collection pipelines for RGB, depth, IMU, force and torque, and joint telemetry using ROS Bag, HDF5, Parquet, and MP4.
- Develop reliable teleoperation systems focused on low-latency control, observability, and operator experience.
- Build and optimize real-time video streaming infrastructure using WebRTC, RTSP, FFmpeg, GStreamer, and HLS.
- Integrate, synchronize, and calibrate Intel Real Sense, Luxonis OAK-D, ZED, FLIR, GigE, and USB camera systems.
- Diagnose hardware, networking, and system-level issues across lab and remote deployments, supporting robot bring-up, maintenance, and fleet operations.
- Improve developer tooling, automation, and documentation to increase reliability and research velocity.
- Partner with researchers and engineers to prototype, test, and iterate on robotic capabilities.
- Strong Python and C++ programming skills, plus working knowledge of C#.
- Deep experience with ROS 2, Ubuntu/Linux, Docker, Git, and shell scripting.
- Experience integrating robotics hardware through vendor SDKs and low-level hardware APIs.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, SSH, VPNs, REST/gRPC, and Web Sockets.
- Hands-on experience with teleoperation systems, real-time video streaming, and multimodal sensor integration and calibration, including RGB, depth, stereo, and IMU sensors.
- Experience managing large robotics datasets with cloud storage platforms such as AWS S3 or Cloudflare R2.
- Strong debugging skills across hardware, software, networking, and embedded systems.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced experimental environment with evolving priorities.
- Experience supporting robot fleets in production or research environments.
- Familiarity with distributed robotics infrastructure and remote diagnostics.
- Experience building tools for robotics data collection, evaluation, or simulation.
- Contributions to open-source robotics software or research projects.
- Experience with autonomous systems, computer vision, or embodied AI.
- Interest in building real-world intelligent systems alongside researchers.
Full-time, on-site role in San Francisco.
Compensation Annual compensation range: $200, 000 to $300, 000.
