The Industrial Journeyman Electrician performs the installation and repair of complex electrical systems, conductors and associated materials in related projects. The Industrial Journeyman Electrician ensures that all work is performed to the highest standards and meets all safety requirements in the performance of the work.

  • Starting Rate: $44.66 hourly
  • Two pay increases within a year, up to $1.00
  • Sunday Double Time
  • Schedule:

    Night Shift 6pm-6am, 2-2-3

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintenance, inspections, and modification of electrical equipment, technologies and processes.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance of electrical circuits.
  • Install new electrical circuits.
  • Bend and install electrical conduit following all appropriate local and national codes.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors and equipment controls.
  • Identify mechanical problems by inspecting equipment and using diagnostic tools. Determine the cause of malfunctions and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Fix or replace faulty components, such as motors, pumps, and valves. This may involve disassembling equipment, making repairs, and reassembling machinery.
  • Act as point of contact for maintenance employees, including contractors, related to electrical and maintenance projects as delegated by the maintenance manager.
  • Help plant production personnel troubleshoot production problems.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Understand and troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Understand three phase motors, transformers, and control circuits.
  • Understand and comply with NEC electrical standards and codes.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Support safety policies and programs.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Education Required:
    • High School Diploma required.
    • Minimum two (2) years of formal technical training required.
    • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Experience

    Required:

    • Minimum one (1) year of journeyman’s experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints, schematics and sketches or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
    • Experience in a manufacturing plant required.
    • Food and/or fluid dairy manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Experience with 4-20mA control Loops, Motor Control Centers utilizing voltages from 120vac to 480vac, and Variable Frequency Drives required.
    • Knowledge/ Ability to read and understand electrical prints required.
  • Certification/Licensure

    Required:

    • State Journeyman's Electrician license required.

    • Decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.

    • Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge, ability to learn new skills quickly, and achieve a high level of accomplishment.
    • Basic math plus fractions, decimals and percentages, as well as algebraic calculations.
