JOB SUMMARY

The Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator supports the Assistant Director of Neighborhood Engagement in carrying out the Town’s strategy. This role prioritizes engagement, followed by education, and enforcement, to foster a positive and collaborative environment.

This role combines community outreach, education, and enforcement activities to enhance neighborhood livability and maintain community standards. Coordinators serve as the frontline representatives of the Town, fostering relationships with residents, HOAs, and civic groups while ensuring compliance with ordinances and state law. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a service-first mindset while promoting a safe, welcoming, and connected community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement:
    • Develop and implement outreach initiatives to engage residents, HOAs, and civic organizations.
    • Build relationships with community stakeholders through regular meetings, events, and public forums.
    • Collaborate with Town departments to promote community programs and services.
    • Represent the Town at neighborhood gatherings, pop-up events, and Keep Little Elm Beautiful activities.
  • Education and Outreach:
    • Create educational materials and resources to inform residents about Town ordinances and standards.
    • Conduct workshops, presentations, and training to promote awareness and voluntary compliance.
    • Support the Assistant Director in coordinating community events and neighborhood initiatives.
    • Leverage digital tools (social media, Town website, newsletters) to expand outreach and accessibility.
  • Enforcement:
    • Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with Town ordinances and state law.
    • Issue warnings, citations, or other enforcement actions in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Prepare case files, compile evidence, and testify in municipal court when required.
    • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to resolve community concerns and safeguard public safety.
  • EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE
    • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
    • Prior experience in community engagement, customer service, or code enforcement strongly preferred.
    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
  • Must be bondable.
  • Code Enforcement Officer Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment).
  • Completion of TEEX Code Enforcement Course and Certification—or within 12 months of employment.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and a driving record in compliance with Town policy.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from residents, businesses, or regulatory agencies with professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including spelling, grammar, and clarity.
  • Ability to present information effectively in public meetings and community forums.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and serve as a community liaison.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and facilitate community engagement events.
  • Skilled in preparing accurate records, reports, and educational materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with efficiency.
  • Knowledge of municipal codes, ordinances, property standards, and inspection practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn GIS and other software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field settings, including outdoor and construction site conditions.
  • Self-motivated with a service-first approach and commitment to Town Core Values.
  • Must be able to learn and interpret related ordinances and codes and procedures for handling code and ordinance violations.
