Respiratory Therapist Reg PRN

Job Summary

Respiratory Care assists physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel in caring for diagnosing, and treating patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities by applying therapeutic, preventive, and diagnostic procedures.

• Administers treatments and medications which promote pulmonary hygiene, improve pulmonary function, and improve respiratory status.
• Implements oxygen, gas, and humidity therapy; maintains oxygen and humidity devices and emergency equipment.
• Performs oximetry, safely obtains blood samples and verifies accuracy of results.
• Sets up, monitors, and maintains invasive and noninvasive ventilatory and oxygenation devices; recognizes and corrects malfunctions or inappropriate settings.
• Provides high quality care and diagnostic services that are appropriate, efficient and effective; communicates effectively with a wide variety of patients, ages and physical conditions.
• Participates in patient assessments/evaluations, maintenance of airways and ventilation, resuscitation efforts and other emergency medical treatments.
• Works independently and as part of a team; is self‑motivated, dependable and reliable.
• Stocks supplies, prepares ventilators/BiPAP and other equipment for immediate use; maintains a neat and orderly work area.
• Proficiently performs all assigned tasks; manages patient flow, prepares procedures and charges.
• Demonstrates efficient multi‑tasking, organizational ability and time management; uses Electronic Health Records and computer skills; works in stressful situations.
• Provides proper patient information, medical history and performs necessary duties in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active license to practice Respiratory Care through the Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT credentialed from the National Board of Respiratory Care or LPN with competencies for Respiratory Care completed.
• Excellent communication skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, able to work independently and as a team member in an efficient and organized manner, possess mature thought, sound judgement and technical accuracy.

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist).
