Overview
FACTA, LLC is actively seeking a Certified PAACO (Swine) Animal Welfare Auditor Contractor. As an Auditor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our organization adheres to the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical practices. This position involves conducting thorough audits of facilities, suppliers, and partners to assess and improve animal welfare conditions.
We provide large and small farms with independent animal welfare assurance and verification that today’s consuming public expects. Our standards meet and exceed market expectations, with the goal of ensuring compliance and staying ahead of evolving animal welfare market demands.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Conduct audits at assigned facilities.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in all audits and audit reports.
- Communicate with client in preparation for audit.
- Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of work and adhere to all procedures established by FACTA and its auditing clients.
- Follow and adhere to all required protocols and procedures including submitting a detailed time and expense report prior to firm deadline.
- Schedule audit-related travel.
- Communicate with management, producers and others as needed.
- Able to work independently in a timely manner without direct oversight.
- Exhibit effective communication, listening, and problem-solving skills; escalate risks and issues beyond own experience or skill set.
- Comply with firm practice management procedures and systems.
- Complete audit procedures to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence with a focus on quality and in accordance with applicable auditing standards.
- Maintain professional skepticism, including consideration of alternative and disconfirming evidence.
- Complete tasks and deliverables to a high-quality standard.
- Keep senior team members informed of significant developments and progress on the engagement.
- Possess basic knowledge of industry jargon; intermediate knowledge in swine.
- Travel required; some trips may begin on Sunday evening with audits located across the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree and education related to animal production and welfare is preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience and/or training in swine production or welfare (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
Note:
this does not include veterinary care for domestic animals. - Active PAACO Certification (Swine).
- Animal welfare or animal husbandry exposure is required.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Possess a U.S. passport or Real .
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational/multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of livestock handling tools.
- Ability to travel to on-site audits.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform on-farm duties which may include walking on uneven terrain, kneeling, crouching, and varying temperatures.
- Biosecurity: applicant cannot own or have regular contact with birds or pigs. Any contact, including hunting, requires at least 72 hours of downtime prior to contract work with FACTA.
