Summary of
Job Duties:
The Chemistry Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a 9‑month Graduate Teaching Assistant. The Graduate Teaching Assistant will be assigned to teach courses/laboratories in the Chemistry Program as a condition of your assistantship. The details of this task will be provided to you by the Chemistry Program. The remainder of your time is devoted to academics and your thesis/dissertation research.
This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution of higher education;
- Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
- Ability to work the required hours (FT‑50% – 20 hours per week, PT‑25% – 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tutoring undergraduate students;
- Run, manage, and teach undergraduate freshman, analytical, organic or other labs as assigned;
- Grading of the lab reports, quizzes, and exams as assigned;
- Prepare lab reagents and maintain safety protocols during the lab and after;
- Manage lab waste and cleanliness of the lab;
- Proctoring exams or quizzes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Chemistry major with GPA at least 3.5 (4.0 scale);
- Coursework of the four sub‑disciplines of chemistry (Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, and Organic);
- Proof of English proficiency.

Salary Information: 1250 per month
