Description

Summary: Instructs individuals served in activities designed to promote social, physical, intellectual, and literacy growth. Provides personal care to individuals served by the program in a discrete and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach in areas of development: social/emotional, cognitive, motor, language, communication, and self-help. Focus on learning, literacy, and social skills to promote independence and successful transition through all life phases.
  • Use management and modification techniques to manage behavior.
  • Plan and implement weekly lesson plans based on individual needs, goals, and treatment plans.
  • Follow standard frameworks for curriculum implementation.
  • Evaluate individuals' skill levels using screening tools, data collection, and assessments.
  • Prepare materials and aids to present objectives effectively.
  • Keep accurate records related to attendance, goals, guardian contact, medical needs, health checks, and incidents.
  • Arrange and supervise special activities and communicate with guardians, staff, and therapists.
  • Ensure classroom meets quality standards and licensure requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team for individualized programming, including supports and modifications.
  • Supervise and plan duties for TAs/paraprofessionals, providing feedback and evaluations.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding and toileting.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic classroom environment.
  • Complete required training hours and participate in team meetings and planning.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Comply with HIPAA and all applicable laws regarding protected health information.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervise 1-3 TAs/paraprofessionals, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline as per policies and law.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 3 years of experience.
    • Ability to interpret documents, write reports, and speak effectively.
    • Math skills including basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
    • Valid Arkansas Driver's License;
      Child Development Associate Certification preferred; CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire.
    • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting up to 100 pounds.
    • Work environment includes outdoor conditions, mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
