Position: CAD Technician I

We have an exciting opportunity open for a CAD Technician I in Little Rock, AR.

Position Summary

Performs Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) design assignments of proposed engineering and operations related projects, tracks and maintains the records related to those assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Performs basic level assignments in support of distribution operations, such as construction projects, permit applications, etc.
  • Utilize basic level CAD and Arc Map skills to support gas operations.
  • Maintains CAD and/or GIS production standards in the development and production of construction plans and specifications.
  • Assist with QA/QC process to ensure CAD and/or GIS production standards are maintained.
  • Enters as-built, survey data, field notes, plats, legal descriptions, address information, etc. in continuous effort to keep GIS database current.
  • Creates and runs queries of GIS data to provide easier access and retrieval of CNP infrastructure information from GIS database to support statistical analysis and creation of accurate maps, plans, and engineering schematic designs.
  • Interprets construction designs and drawings of both existing and proposed gas distribution facilities.
  • Analyzes and interprets spatial data to ensure system integrity.
  • Assists customers and employees with basic facility information inquiries.
  • Designs and produces special graphic presentation maps.
  • Trains less experienced staff to perform duties listed above.
  • Will be assigned projects in support of CAD/GIS Department.
Education and Work Experience

Requires a Vo-Tech/CAD/GIS/Drafting certificate or 60 credit hours in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Experience in the use and function of drafting tools and office equipment applicable for position.
  • Experience related to pipe, mechanical or architectural drawings, drawing on job orders, completion reports, and related information.
  • Experience and knowledge of drawing, posting, and/or plotting maps, atlas pages, plats, legal descriptions, and diagrams.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and/or preparing written information, including but not limited to: material lists, ROW information, maps, and blueprints.
  • Demonstrates success in partnering effectively with other departments and all levels of management including executives.
  • Proficient in GIS, AutoCAD, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Exhibits high level of attention to detail in all facets of the work.
  • Interpersonal/communication skills including good verbal skills in meetings, one-on-one exchanges, and presentations; written communication for everyday correspondence and technical writing.
  • Ability to work well with others due to collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to provide feedback in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Exhibits initiative and ability to multi-task several projects simultaneously.
  • Will be expected to learn all skills for any machine and/or software necessary to accomplish tasks and other duties as assigned.
  • Has knowledge of PHMSA DOT part 192 and specific state regulations.
