We are looking for a Process Engineer to help us establish and maintain operating parameters for plant equipment, provide technical support to production, maintenance, and process teams, and oversee the proper functioning of manufacturing lines. As a Trex Process Engineer, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and procedures for wood/plastic composites, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to quality standards.
This role is a key member of our Engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and foster our "people first" culture
- Develop and implement processes and procedures for the function of plant equipment required in manufacturing wood/plastic composites. Establish and maintain the required operating parameters, based on observed data and best practices, with minimal supervision from the supervisor.
- Provide technical leadership to the Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, and maintenance team members to solve problems and optimize the operation of plant equipment.
- Assume responsibility for the proper operation of the manufacturing lines and coordinate the repair and replacement of these pieces of equipment as needed.
- Lead project and process development with weekly reports to the Process Engineering Manager.
- Pursue capital projects based on a cost-benefit analysis and the intended production impact. Work with the project team to completion.
- Work with other departments on capital projects or improvements, identify necessary resources, and follow up to assess the operational success of the installed equipment.
- Utilize Problem-solving expertise to address process, equipment, materials, quality, and EHS issues.
- Regularly lead teams using Continuous Improvement tools (fishbone, 5-why, etc.) to determine root cause, corrective actions, and preventive measures. Follow actions to closure.
- Presents findings from CI/Lean events to senior management.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide guidance, and lead teams on process improvement projects.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- The first 1-2 weeks of employment will require travel to our Winchester, VA facility for New Hire Orientation and initial training.
- During the first six months, the employee will travel to Winchester, VA, approximately one week per month for continued training.
- After the initial six-month period, travel will be required to either our Winchester, VA, or Fernley, NV facilities approximately 1-2 weeks every six months.
- A valid driver's license is required.

EXPERIENCE
We are looking for leaders with a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, along with experience in manufacturing processes and procedures of wood/plastic composites and/or extrusion processes. Years of experience requirements are listed below. We want to hear from you if you have previous experience as an Industrial, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineer.
- Process Engineer II: Bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing (or chemical process operations) environment.
- Candidates with an Associate's degree, along with 7 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing (or chemical process operations) environment, will be considered.
- Process Engineer III: Bachelor's degree plus at least 8 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing (or chemical process operations) environment.
- Candidates with an Associate's degree, along with 10 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing (or chemical process operations) environment, will be considered.
