Job Description: CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist with experience modeling contaminant transport through sediment caps and/or a working knowledge of CAD in remediation projects, combined with basic geotechnical engineering experience related to remediation projects located anywhere within the United States.
The candidate must have demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team on remediation projects for a variety of clients, including those in Federal and Public sectors. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a higher grade level than that proposed for this advertisement.
Responsibilities- Understand the scientific and engineering principles of modeling contaminant fate and transport through sediment caps in subaqueous systems. Experience with Cap Sim is preferred.
- Use CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and/or soil excavation projects, including following direction from a senior engineer with minimal oversight.
- Perform slope stability modeling.
- Develop field sampling programs and perform data analyses to support conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes (e.g., interpreting sediment cores, bathymetric surveys).
- Develop, calibrate, and apply numerical and/or desktop models.
- Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assist in designing sediment remediation for large contaminated sediment sites with multiple stakeholders.
- Serve as CDM Smith’s primary interface with clients on complex sediment tasks; assess problems and communicate technical strategies to clients.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and workload. Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion).
