Senior Accountant

Arkansas Talent Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for a premier Arkansas-based retail company. The perfect candidate will have 3-5+ years in general accounting, including month end, reconciliations, and ap, ar, preferably for multiple sets of books/locations.

This is a new role for the company due to fast growth!

The chosen Senior Accountant will lead general ledger management, month-end reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial insights for decision-making. This role demands advanced accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while collaborating across departments.

• Oversee general ledger maintenance, including posting complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensuring ledger accuracy and completeness.
• Manage full month-end close process, including preparation of reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, flux analysis, and variance explanations.
• Prepare and deliver key financial reports, such as P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow analyses, and management reports for leadership review.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements or cost savings.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams to support annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal controls.
• Implement and optimize accounting systems, workflows, and automation tools to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.

• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting roles.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, Quick Books, SAP) and Excel; experience with BI tools a plus.
• In‑depth knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
• Proven leadership skills, with experience supervising teams and managing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
