POSITION PURPOSE
:
Provides speech therapy services by evaluating, assessing, diagnosing, selecting interventions, and treating clients in need of speech therapy.
- Administers and scores speech therapy assessments and completes comprehensive evaluations at least annually.
- Interprets evaluation results and completes a formal, written report of findings within 10 working days following completion of the evaluation.
- Refer clients for additional evaluations and/or services, as appropriate.
- Develops individualized speech therapy treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives.
- Reviews and updates each client’s treatment plan at least annually.
- Provides speech therapy services to identified clients as prescribed; explanations for missed sessions are documented.
- Identifies materials and equipment needed for treatment; creates or requests them through supervisor if not available.
- Provides therapy in classroom and other functional settings to promote generalization of skills.
- Collaborates with each client’s interdisciplinary team to discuss and progress the plan of care and goals.
- Documents weekly therapy schedules, daily progress notes, and billing within designated time frames using the appropriate system.
- Completes other documentation related to speech therapy using appropriate methods.
- Provides written communication or documents verbal conversations with parents/guardians about client progress at least every two weeks.
- Completes written discharge summaries when the client is discharged from speech therapy.
- Attends and participates in job-related functions such as department and team meetings, parent conferences, peer reviews, workshops, and mandatory trainings.
- Supervises speech therapists completing their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), as indicated.
- Serves as a clinical educator for graduate students in speech therapy programs, as indicated.
- Manages assigned caseload to meet clients’ needs and productivity requirements.
- Maintains familiarity with health and safety guidelines and daily operating procedures.
- Represents the program positively to parents, visitors, and the public.
- Completes continuing professional education each year as required to maintain licensure and standards.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.

- Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
- Current Arkansas license as a Speech Therapist.
- Current certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- One year of experience with the indicated client population is preferred, but not required.
- Effective and professional communication with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work with children and adolescents.
