Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Lead (Healthcare)

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs nuclear medicine and PET/CT procedures and provides day-to-day coordination of imaging workflows within the department. Supports the Imaging leadership by assisting with informal leadership tasks such as guiding team members, addressing routine operational issues, and contributing to regulatory readiness efforts.

JOB SPECIFIC

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Schedules and coordinates patient exams; assists with prioritization of daily caseload and troubleshooting delays.
  • Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Processes diagnostic imaging procedures and records radiopharmaceutical administration to patients.
  • Receives and records appropriate information regarding receipts of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals; may assist in periodic audit preparation or supply tracking.
  • Requests and coordinates all necessary patient information including medical charts, charge slips.
  • Supports compliance and QA tracking efforts by identifying issues and escalating to leadership when appropriate.
  • Serves as a department resource for questions regarding radioactive materials licensure and documentation.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Serves as a point of contact for routine questions and assists with informal mentoring of new staff.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives and contributes to department readiness for inspections or accreditation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Travel may be required to cover other locations as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

N/A

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine.
  • Registered by either the ARRT or NMTCB (in Nuclear Medicine) required.
  • Arkansas drivers license within 30 days of hire.
  • Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.
  • BLS Required.
EXPERIENCE,

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine technology technical principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of quality care standards for nuclear medicine.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Skilled in injecting radiopharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures.
  • Skilled in using computer network systems competently to process patient and department information.
  • Skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.
  • Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL

SKILLS:
  • Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
  • Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position involves potential exposure to infectious diseases. Team members are offered appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
