Data Engineer, Database Administrator
Overview
The SENIOR SQL Database Administrator will provide reliable, cost‑effective, & secure enterprise‑wide support for business‑critical production & non‑production databases for the Arkansas Integrated Revenue System (AIRS).
Key Requirements- On‑site only
- Position available for extensions.
- Candidate must have recent hands‑on experience in ALL aspects of SQL DBA Administration.
- Minimum 6 years experience administering SQL Server 2016 (or later versions).
- Experience installing & upgrading SQL Servers, including applying service packs.
- Proficient in creating & scheduling SQL Server jobs for database maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of rebuilding indexes, updating statistics, & monitoring error logs & event logs for database errors.
- Experience with SQL Server native tools and services:
- SQL Server Profiler
- Index Tuning Advisor
- SQL Server Configuration Manager
- Extended Events
- Performance Monitor
- Dynamic Management View
- SQL Server Broker Service
- Linked Servers
- MSDTC
- System Databases
- Database Mail
- Health Checks & Policies
- Managing SQL Server security & auditing: database roles, auditing, encryption at rest/ transit/ backup.
- Capacity planning for storage & database objects: monitoring disk space, index & statistics usage.
- Database backup & recovery: standards, schedules, recovery procedures (RPO/RTO), point‑in‑time recovery.
- Creating & testing Disaster Recovery plans.
- Proficient in T‑SQL coding, tuning, & ETL methodologies.
- Experience with SQL Server High Availability (Mirroring, Always On).
- Building & maintaining Windows Host & Guest Servers, end point protection, & managing application, web, file, and FTP servers.
- Utilizing Power Shell for administration tasks.
- Windows Failover Cluster configuration & maintenance, Windows Server Roles & Features.
- Experience with FAST Gen Tax/DS‑VS architecture & application maintenance.
- Familiarity with industry security standards (PUB
1075, FIPS, PII). - Cloud computing knowledge: cloud storage, backup, & restore mechanisms.
- Firewall administration & maintenance.
- Email, SMTP, & Proxy Server troubleshooting.
- Web Services development & support.
- Availability to provide 24‑hour support.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
